The Center serves as the summer home for the Houston Symphony. It also offers a wide variety of performances including musicals, ballet, rock and other programs. The center seats a total of 10,000 people, 3,000 under the fabric roof cover, and 7,000 on the lawn.

The Teflon coated fiberglass roof covers an area of 27,000 sq. ft. Its structure consists of three tent like units suspended from steel A-frames.
